Leech Nest was the first POI I worked on for Wildgate, and it was a really fun project to start with! Experimenting with the initial sculpting workflow was a challenge, and Philip Klevestav was a huge help to set up our workflow along with Jenny Liu for creating an awesome exterior shader that let us iterate quickly using vertex color maps. Philip also helped in bringing Leech Nest's exterior sculpt and materials to finalization. For the interior, I was tasked to build it up from a block out state. This was done using a rock asset kit and central structure piece from Philip. When filling this space, I created a few custom assets such as the leech egg clusters, small foliage bits, and center rock pieces. Huge thanks to Philip for helping push the lighting in a better direction, and Lucas Annunziata for setting up the loot room lighting/set dressing. Our VFX team, Hadidjah Chamberlin and Sully Sullivan, worked on any little critters floating around and spore puffs/fireflies. Laurel Austin was responsible for the exterior and interior concepts of Leech Nest and giving overall feedback/guidance.
